The release of Galleria, a gallery child theme of Hybrid

As the WordPress community grows, so does the amount of available themes. Galleria is a gallery-style child theme for WordPress built on the Hybird theme framework. Originally, this theme was created by Chirs Wallace for the Thematic theme framework and released at Smashing Magazine.

So I am excited to announce another theme release from WPCult and Frosty Web Designs. A few days back, I came across this post at Smashing Magazine.

Just recently we asked you to let us know what theme you would like us to release next. Among numerous comments we found many request for a gallery-theme that could be particularly useful for portfolios and showcases. At the very same time Christopher Wallace has been designing an advanced gallery-WordPress-theme for the design community and Smashing Magazine’s audience. And today finally we are proud to release it – for free, of course.

Well, I liked this theme, and while I am a big fan of the Thematic theme, I know there are many out there who love Hybrid. Hybrid is Justin Tadlocks theme framework, which can be downloaded for free at http://themehybrid.com/themes/hybrid.

Just an FYI, this site is running hybrid as a parent theme. 🙂

So…

I contacted Chris and told him of this theme port I would be doing. After a few days of modifications, bug fixes, and styling, the theme is ready for public release.

While Galleria shares a few qualities with his sibling, the differences are notable in the style, color, and layout throughout the theme, including the theme options.

More info

For more info and documentation, refer to the readme.html file included in the download or visit the Galleria theme page.

WordPress Beta 3 Error

WordPress Beta 3 Error 12

If you don’t know, this site is running the latest WordPress. Which is in Beta testing, version 2.7 Beta-3.

I installed a new plugin today: SEO Smart Links. And as soon as I installed and tested it out, I get an error message on my dashboard.

The funny thing is, usually when there is an error, it shows up at the top of the page, before the site loads. This error is showing up at the bottom of the site.

huh, I was going to past the code error, but it seemed to disappear? I will post it if it shows up again.

Table of Contents

OH…

Another big error is clicking the publish button. Seems that I keep getting an Error 500 – Internal server error when publishing a post or re-saving a post. 🙁

Update

I used my handy dandy Plugin: WP-DBManager to restore my backup from yesterday. Fixed both problems!
Hopefully, Vladimir Prelovac will update his plugin for WordPress 2.7 use.

Update 2

Upon further inspection, and trials. This plugin is awesome and powerful for how simple it is. But my plugin: OIO Publisherseems not to like ALOT of my plugins I have installed.

So check out the SEO plugin for sure!

Possible photo tagging plugin update

Have you tried to download any of the community tagging plugins with no prevail?

Published

on

I recently posted a comment in response to a post on Justin Tadlock’s WordPress site about custom taxonomies. Then was asked by a reader how I integrated my custom taxonomies with one of Matt Mullenwegs “tagging” plugin.

  1. Community Tags
  2. Matt’s Community Tags

Anyway, I tried to install and use both plugins before with no luck. But decided to download Community Tags and try my luck again. With some hacking, I got it working. For a demo you can check out and tag (someone you know or recognize only, please) a picture over at my photography site, http://thefrosty.com.

Anyway, before I get carried away, I had a reader email me and ask how I integrated the plugin. And I thought I would ask you if you would be interedted in a re-re-release of the plugin.

At present time I do have some array errors, but everything works just fine as is.

Your comment feedback would be great! Thanks!
