I’ve updated the site to the latest release of WordPress. 2.8.1 fixes many bug found in 2.8 and I finally was ready for the update. While everything went smoothly, I did have to update my theme a bit to run some of the additional widget area.

Using the old style dynamic_sidebar( 'Utility: Header' ); didn’t work any more, while just replacing the Title of the widget area with the ID fixed this problem: dynamic_sidebar( 'utilityheader' );.

I also came across a major error with one of my plugins. AsideShop just doesn’t work with and version WordPress

Well, aside from waiting all day for WordPress 2.8 to be released into the wild (public). I left the comfort of my home to get some dinner only to get a message that 2.8 was out.

Upon returning home I’ve had a chance to download and install 2.8 on a few site’s I own. BUT!! Why the title of A busy busy Wednesday night?

Okay, so by now you may notice something. You may be thinking “the site looks a lot different”, and you are correct. Over the past few weeks I’ve decided that the site needed a different flare and feel. While many and most site’s these days are popping up with featured posts, and jQuery sliders, I wanted to steer away from that and go old school. While I had some trouble’s activating the theme today which didn’t allow me to fully finish the theme, 99% of it is done.

I’ve had some time the last few days while my XPS computer has been having difficulties and the Dell replacement parts didn’t fix, what I know now to be a faulty LCD screen.

So I’ve made a few updates and changes to my WordCult theme. The new version is: 0.3.

You should head over the the newly redesigned site of Matt Mullenweg, the inventor of WordPress! His site is all new for the Spring season, and he has been tounting many of us with quick screen shots at WordCamp Las Vegas & WordCamp Denver. But finally, and I guess a little delayed, the new theme has launched.
